What is the school schedule?

School starts at 4:00 and ends at 6:00.  We have an all school prayer time that starts at 4:00 and ends at 4:30.  After prayer time, the students are in class until 6:00.

Where can I pick up my child when school is over?

Parents/Guardians must go to the classrooms at 6:00 p.m. to pick up their student.  If a parent/guardian has a special situation and needs have their child dismissed to their car , please contact the Education Director.

Can my child ride the bus to school?

Our school moves every 2 years.  When the school is located at Temple Adath Yeshurun, students who are in the Jamesville-Dewitt School District or the Syracuse City School District have the option of taking the bus to the Syracuse Community Hebrew School.  Temple Adath Yeshurun has the Rothschild Early Childhood Center after school program and students can take those buses from school to the Syracuse Community Hebrew School which is located at Temple Adath.  Parents must make their own arrangements with their school for their child to take the bus to Temple Adath and need to notify Shannon Small, the Education Director, ahead of time.

This school year, we will be at Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas.  We have a bus from the Jamesville DeWitt Middle School only.

2018-2019 We will be at Temple Concord. We are currently working on a transportation option.

How do I pay?

Families will pay their regular tuition rate at their respective synagogue.  Each synagogue will pay the Syracuse Community Hebrew School an amount that will be determined by the number of their students that are attending.  If you are unaffiliated with a synagogue, please contact the Education Director about payment.

Will my child have snack or do they need to eat before they arrive?

Children who ride the bus to the Syracuse Community Hebrew School will receive a kosher snack when they arrive.  Students who do not arrive on the bus will receive a snack during the school day. The teacher will determine when the students will receive snack.
